Le Hamel - A Rustic Jewel!!
..............."We had a fantastic stay at Le Hamel. The house was beautiful and everything we could possibly require was there for our little family. A perfect cottage for children with plenty of space outside to run around and a fully functional washing machine and dishwasher for the parents to play with. The surrounding area was so relaxing and re-energising and we really felt we were seeing some of the 'real' France. Domjean is delightful and the restaurant that is so heavily recommended in the visitor's book is as good as they say it is and very child friendly. We didn't get to see Torigni but managed the D-Day beaches, Bayeux, Mont-St-Michel, St Malo, the aquarium and Honfleur. So much still to do it may require a second visit. Thank you for letting us borrow your house. It was a really memorable holiday (our first with a child and our first self-catering) and it was absolutely perfect. We would love to visit again and will be in touch.” Mr & Mrs P. August 2010

...............“We had a really relaxing holiday at Le Hamel. The property and location were both ideal for us and, it was really nice to stay somewhere that was even quieter than where we live (which is increasingly hard to find these days). We made trips to most of the local towns and, not surprisingly, consumed a lot of local produce, especially wine, cheese and mussels! The accommodation was excellent for us, and the views ensured that we had most meals outside. “ Mr G – July 2010

................"It was a most enjoyable break. The wife says you have more kitchen utensils than she has, which is saying something. The cottage was to our liking, plenty of room and in a peaceful aspect. I read more than I've done for years so that was no bad thing all told. The “noisy neighbours” caused us a bother though (got you going now!), the cuckoo, blackbird and all those other birds which we so enjoyed spotting (we are avid bird watchers)! ................"We got arrived home yesterday after a lovely holiday in your cosy house. The snow on wed/Thurs just made it look all that more perfect. On leaving we had to dig ourselves out of the snow, your neighbours were very helpful in providing shovels, and we then got stuck near the top of road which goes up to the water tower in Domjean! ................""We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Le Hamel. We thought the cottage was well equiped & having all the various DVD`s & music available was a nice touch.. Beds were comfy, the view was a joy as was the birdsong & the peace. We loved the restaurant in Domjean & the boulangerie was also very good. The position of Le Hamel was also very good for touring. All in all it was just what we wanted & we wouldn`t hesitate to come again or recommend it to friends. Thank You very much for everything, Mr & Mrs G. ................"We were really able to relax and unwind and I haven’t slept that well in months. The intense darkness and complete quiet meant we were all zonked out by 10pm every night and our son didn’t wake til 8am most mornings! We had a lovely time and really enjoyed your cottage – it was cottagey in the best sense in that we felt like we were in an old farmhouse but without compromising any comfort. " (Mrs B, Nov 08)
................"We had a wonderful holiday - thank you! The house is in a beautiful setting and ideally located for so many attractions. The house is very well equipped and comfortable. The girls really enjoyed playing in the garden and because of its location we felt at ease allowing the girls to play and to enjoy their freedom. Domjean is such a pretty village and we loved it! We went to the swimming pool in Torigni and although it was busy because of school holidays, the manager of the pool couldn't have been more helpful. The girls loved the pedalo on the lake and the mini golf in the park too. We sampled the galettes at Les Roches De Ham (yum, yum!) and went on the Velorail which started at Conde-sur-Vire (tiring for Grandparents but great fun for everyone!!). Although the chocolate factory in Moyon doesn't offer tours any more, the shop is interesting to visit and to buy presents for family and friends. We went to a beach near Granville which was safe and clean but as it was a very hot day we didn't stay for more than a couple of hours. We would love to make a return visit but probably on our own as there is so much to see and do which little ones are not that interested in" Mrs H (Aug 08).

................"I just wanted to let you know how much George and I enjoyed staying at le Hamel. The house is oozing with French rustic charm and its position so very quiet. It was so exciting waking up on the first am not knowing what views or surrounds there would be – and it was so warm we could have had breakfast outside with the local church clock ringing in the background! We managed to shoe horn the boys away from the house on 2 days only! We all enjoyed the Memorial museum at Caen and driving round the actual sites, and Tim and I would have looked forward to many more walks in the Suisse Normande ( only approx 30-40mins drive away) and more locally".

................"We have liked your cottage and the garden very much. It was clean when we arrived and as per the description on you web site. The view was lovely and we fed the many birds in your garden every day. We saw deer in the orchard further down the road and we truly had a lovely time. The weather did let us down a bit so we could not spend as much time in the garden as we would have liked, but there you go. We visited all the places we wanted to and had fantastic meals out. We particularly enjoyed the one in the Restaurant in Domjean, so thank you for the tip!"

We were very lucky to have a week of beautiful weather so we made the most of the garden (especially the badminton set) and the sightseeing, but you certainly had every eventuality covered with DVDs, books etc. I can't think of anything else that we would have wanted.
